This weeks Local Business of the Week is Crowley Based Business – Dallas Antenna. Kevin Hendryx and his wife operate Dallas Antenna from their home in Crowley, Texas. Have you been thinking of unplugging from the cable or satellite TV providers? Here’s the way to do it.
Kevin and the Technicians of Dallas Antenna will come to your home, observe and follow all of the Covid-19 guidelines and efficiently install a new antenna on your home. If you are like me, you may be imagining one of those old fashioned tall antenna with a bunch of wires and pipes going in all directions.
Modern and Sleek Equipment
It’s not like that anymore. The equipment Kevin and his Techs install is very modern and sleek. Once the antenna is installed, its all done. There’s no muss and no fuss.
Kevin and Dallas Antenna are making a special offer to anyone who reads this post and mentions it or shows it to Kevin when calling in to schedule the appointment. He can usually get your equipment installed within 1 week of scheduling the appointment.
This week’s Local Business of the Week, Crowley Based Dallas Antenna, is making a special offer available to my readers. The special offer is 15% off for simply mentioning or showing him this post. The costs start at $349 including installation. Take a look at the Facebook page for Dallas Antenna. There’s a time-lapse video showing the full installation process.

It seems grilling meat on Memorial Day has become an American tradition. It’s as though the word Grilling has become synonomous with Memorial Day. Here are some links to Memorial Day Grilling recipes and ideas.
It’s a time for families to come together, to share stories of their loved ones who served in the military and to enjoy making new memories.
I have to admit a grilled hot dog is my FAVORITE hot dog. I can eat it plain on a bun. No mustard, catsup, onions, relish or anything. Of course, brats are yummy, hamburgers delicious, pineapple sweet, and steak is awesome. I could go on and on. I love food and grilled food is right at the top of the list.
Here are a few links to some grilling recipes and ideas for grilling foods you may have never grilled before:

I had the privilege this week to meet Rhonda Lamb, the manager of Rachel’s Hope Resale in Burleson, TX. The shop is located at 517 SW Wilshire Blvd., 2 doors down from Whataburger.
Rachel’s Hope Resale sales gently used items. Clothing, shoes, purses and bags, scarves, household goods, games, toys and decor items. You’ll be surprised what you could find. While I was in the shop this week, I saw a Dooney & Bourke handbag priced WAAAAAAAAYY below retial. I saw beautiful decorative plates with Thomas Kinkade images printed on them in an attractive wooden display holder.
Take a look at the photos below and click the collage of images to see the video.
If you are expecting a baby soon, this is a great place to find things you’ll need. There are adorable clothing in a full range of sizes as well as baby beds, diaper bags and all manner of assorted items.
They also have wedding dresses and other similar items that you may be looking for if you are planning a wedding or have been invited to attend one this summer.
Take a few minutes to stop in. The inventory changes frequently. They have a room full of donations that are being prepared to be sold. Don’t be surprised if you hear a washing machine and a dryer while you are in the shop. These appliances are on site and used to make sure all of the clothing and soft goods are clean and fresh before being placed in the shopping areas.
Rachel’s Hope are also taking steps to ensure everything donated is sanitized and cleaned prior to being brought in to the store. The dedicated and very helpful staff is happy to assist if you are looking for something specific. They are involved in preparing all of the merchandise for resale.
Donations are accepted. Simply contact the shop before taking your items to donate.
I am committed to contirubuting a portion of the proceeds received from every home I help a client purchase or sell to support Rachel’s Hope Resale Shop during 2020. Let me know if you wish to be a part of this project to benefit Rachel’s Hope.
I love living in Johnson County TX! One of my favorite spots in Johnson County is the Duck Pond in Keene. I decided to take a drive out to the Duck Pond to take a few pictures and to make a short video to share on my website. How much do you know about Keene, TX? Let’s take a moment and Get to Know Keene.
Keene is on US Hwy 67, FM 2280 and the tracks of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe railroad 5 miles northeast of Cleburne in Central Johnson County. Keene TX is probably most well known as the home of Southwestern Adventist University. The campus has a large footprint in the town. The estiamted popluation of Keene is 6,531.
The first settlers to Keene arrived in 1852. Jeremiah Estwood and his family were the first to arrive. They built a Methodist Church which also served as a school.
Did you know the Duck Pond in Keene TX is an official course of the Professional Disc Golf Association? There are rules posted at the site. The course runs around the pond and through Callicott Park.
Staying at home has led to my re-evaluating my home. One of the things I’ve been doing is reorganizing. Would you like to join me? Great! Let’s Get Organized!
Here are some tips I”ve found helpful.
Don’t buy storage containers YET. Wait until you have sorted through your things and know exactly what will go where. Then you can make sure you get the right shape, size and type for your use.
Find the easy places to start. If you need or want to reorganize your whole house, pick a drawer or cabinet to begin with. Once it is complete, you’ll feel so good, you’ll be able to move on to the next spot. Once the momentum starts, it’s much easier.
One item out for every item in. If you see something at a shop or boutique you must have, bring it home, and then take something out to donate or sell. Keeping control of your belongings or stuff, helps you to keep from accumulating more than you want or need.
Only touch an item once. A fancy way of put it where it belongs the first time. Don’t set it down and think I’ll put that away later. Go ahead and put it away at the start and then its done.
Know that purging never ends. You don’t get to purge once and never do it again. Staying organized and purging is a daily, on-going task. Make it easier for yourself by making a place to put the purged items. A give away box in the garage or in the car. A hamper near the dryer for old, worn out or clothes no longer worn. Once the box or hamper is full take it to a charity that accepts items for resale.
User vertical space. Look up. Think tall. Think about under your sink. There’s a good bit of vertical space that goes unused. Find stacking baskets or bins that can be used to organize soaps, rags, cleaners, etc.
Videos are the best, so I’m including some of my favorites. The Small Bathroom organizing tips are really good. Tia Mowry’s pantry is amazing too. I wish mine was that big.
Household Organization Tips
Ikea has tons of great storage solutions and organization tools. This video is really helpful and has some tips I’ve never thought of.

Local Business of the Week: Moretti’s Gourmet Olive Oil
This week’s Local Business of the Week is Moretti’s Gourmet Olive Oil. Thsi shop is AMAZING!!! I visited it on Saturday and had the pleasure of meeting Trudy & Jeremy who keep the customer’s happy and the shelves stocked, make the gift baskets, and so many other things. AND, the owner, Mr. Robert Moretti happened to come in while I was there. He was kind enough to allow me to make a video of him (See it below).
Moretti’s carries Premium Gourmet Olive Oils and Vinegars. These are not your standard, run-of-the-mill oils and vinegars. They are pure, direct from the producer and stored in special containers to keep them fresh and protected from light and pollutants.
So Many Flavors . . .
These oils and vinegars are infused with flavors such as Cinnamon Pear Dark, Strawberry, Peach and lots more. I think you’ll be surprised by the Olive Oil flavors. They are so intriguing. There’s Lemon and Cilantro, Smoked, Havanero Pepper, and many more. Stop by the shop and ask for a sample or two. Trudy & Jeremy will be happy to serve you the samples.
Make Your Selection . . .
To ensure freshness and retain the purity and quality of the oils and vinegars, they are bottled once you make your selection. There are two sizes available. Once the bottles are filled, they are heat sealed with a wax wrapped top. They make a beautiful and impressive presentation when gifted.
Where to Find Moretti’s . . .
Visit their home of 10 years at 251 SW Wilshire, Burleson. Visit their website to see the lists of all the varieties and recipes to use the oils and vinegars in your own kitchen. The 1st thing I plan to make is a Spinach Salad with Feta Cheese drizzled with Fig insured Balsamic Vinegar.
These oils and vinegars are so beautifully packaged, they are the perfect addition to gift baskets to give for wedding shower gifts, birthdays, house warming or even as a hostess gift. These will definitely be on the gift idea list at Christmas for the Foodies in your life too. They are a wonderful gift for men and women alike.

Mom’s come in all shapes and sizes. Everything from the green mom, the DIY mom, the “I don’t want anything” mom, the foodie mom, and the reading mom. I’m sure I have not included all the descrisptions of our mom’s. There are so many and they wear so many hats and are so gifted and accomplished at so many things.
Check the links to the shops, stores, boutiques and businesses to find just the right gift for the “mom” in your life, even if he’s your dad.
The Green Mom
If you mom is the Green Mom. She may like gardening, recycling and respecting Mother Nature. This mother loves filling the home and yard with plants, both floral and those which feed her family. Plus, she takes great care to reduce waste and recycle as much as possible and encourages other to do the same.
The DIY Mom enjoys doing things herself. She loves to go to Pinterest for inspiration. Or, maybe she enjoys the challenge of making things, completing projects, planning improvements, etc., and she is on the prowl for just the right materials or enjoys repurposing some item that has been discarded. Try these shops for some inspiration.
Also known as “don’t get me anything” mom, “I don’t need anything” mom, or “no, seriously, don’t get me anything” mom. Just because mom says she “doesn’t want anything” doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve a little something to let her know we’re thinking of her. Here are a few gift shops and gift basket curators. You’re sure to find SOMETHING your mom would love and appreciate at one of these shops.
This is for the moms who enjoy their time eating. They enjoy a glass of wine, cooking or even trying a new dish of some creative combination of spices and ingredients. It’s the mom who has a sweet tooth or loves salty and spicy foods. Be sure to get your orders in. Some gifts may need to be ordered ahead of time.
Does your mom always have a book in her hand? Does she spend her days immersing herself in new worlds, learning about history, or improving herself? Why not buy her a book this Mother’s day! Check out these local bookstores and find her something she will love! Some of these stores offer cards too so you can get all your shopping done in one go.
I hope this helps you find something special for your mom! If you know of some special shops that I’ve missed, I’d love to hear. Be sure to post pictures of you and your mom on FB so we can all celebrate the special day.
Dine In Restaurants are Opening May 1 (TODAY)! Some restaurants will not open as they are not prepared just yet, but will open soon. Here’s a list of the restaurants I’ve been told are open today. Be sure to click the name of the restaurant to be directed to their FB page. Some require reservations, some are changing their hours.
Expect lines and be patient. Observe the posted and published instructions. We need to be safe and remain healthy to be able to get back to life as we are used to.
Let me know if there are other restaurants I have not listed that are opening today or within the next few days. I know this list is not comprehensive. Go out to eat! Enjoy yourself! Be safe! Have fun! Post pictures and promote your choice of dining establishment to help them regain some of their losses during the #StayHome quarantine period we have been through.

Here’s a link to my blog Burleson & Johnson County TX Nurseries so you too can find the plants, shrubs, bushes and seeds for your outdoor space.
